    Simple Jomon Ceramic Cremation Urn
    Item Description
The Simple Jomon ceramic cremation urn was inspired by ancient Jomon pottery from Japan's oldest known civilization. It is elaborately decorated on the top half both inside and out. The bottom half is contrastingly plain.

This urn was inspired by wares made by the oldest civilization known in Japan, the Jomon (circa 2500-1500 B.C.). One of the most recognizable characteristics of these pots is the swirling, dynamic decoration on the rim. It is assumed they were used for ritual purposes due to this predominance of decoration. The lower half of the urn is very plain, giving rise to the contrasting exuberance of the top. This urn has additions improvised by the artist. The container is basically the lower half of the form having a lid with a large elaborate handle matching the external and internal decoration. Jomon ware is traditionally made from earthenware; however, this urn is crafted using stoneware. Since each Simple Jomon urn is special and one-of-a-kind, please allow for slight variations in color, texture, and size.

    A Beautiful Ceramic Urn
Ceramic is made by heating raw materials, usually clay, in a kiln. The word "ceramic" comes from the Greek word keramikos, meaning pottery. Because ceramic cremation urns are often created, or thrown, by hand, please allow for slight variations in color, texture, and size.

    Perfect for Home Display
Since this urn has been painstakingly crafted down to the last intricate detail, it is intended to be kept at home. However, this urn can also be entombed in an oversized cemetery columbarium niche or buried in an earth grave. Please note that some cemetery regulations may require the use of an urn vault prior to earth burial, but due to the large size of this urn, a standard-sized urn vault cannot be used.
