The Raku Lantern ceramic cremation urn is crafted in the shape of an ancient lantern. The base of the urn opens from the top and can be closed with the fitted lid that also serves as a votive candle holder. The top lid can be removed to replace a small tea-light candle. Since each Raku Lantern urn is special and one-of-a-kind, please allow for slight variations in color, texture, and size.
In Raku firing, a traditional and ancient Japanese firing process, each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. It is then placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of Raku.
As a Token of Remembrance
Keepsake and token remembrance cremation urns are miniature urns that are designed to hold only a small portion of ashes, or cremated remains. Keepsake urns are medium-sized and token urns are the very smallest cremation urns.
Keepsake and token cremation urns make it possible for family members or friends to divide up the cremated remains so that each person can have an urn. If the cremated remains are to be scattered, keepsakes and tokens also make it possible for loved ones and friends to retain a small amount of cremated remains to be scattered later or kept as a permanent memorial.
Perfect for Home Display or Burial
Keepsake and token cremation urns can be kept at home, entombed in a cemetery columbarium niche, or buried in an earth grave. Please note some cemetery regulations may require that this urn be placed inside of an urn vault prior to earth burial.
